This is a very interesting fabric design that changes appearance according to distance. From far it seems purplish/brown but up close it is actually a mix of indigo and brown yarns.
Medium to heavy weight, tightly handwoven fabric made from 100% cotton. Hand dyed with natural indigo dye and other natural dyes.
Indigo dyed fabric will wear similar to jeans. It will bleach from washing and wearing but stay beautiful.
This fabric has a slight rough feel to it and will get softer after washing. This is because the weavers used rice starch to make weaving easier.
The weight of this fabric is 290 gr/sqm or 8.25 oz/sqy.

Tip: real handwoven fabric can be recognized by looking at the edges. Handwoven fabrics have edges that are irregular and wavy as you can see in the picture.
This fabric is great for making cushions, clothes or bags. It is not difficult to work with but it is good to have a overlock (serger) machine as it can fray easily as it always the case with handwoven fabrics. Once locked and stitched it is strong.
